This Old House Needs A New Home!
The house located at 400 N. 8th Street in Alpine, known as the Williams House, is for sale at public auction by Brewster County.
The 873 sq. ft. bungalow has a wrap-around front porch, one bedroom and one bathroom.
Brewster County Commissioners Court would like to see this home preserved, on another site, so come bid on this part of Alpine's past.
The auction will be held at the property at noon Monday, Aug. 9, with Auctioneer Henry Ogletree.
Terms of sale include the following:
- House must be moved from property at buyer's expense within 180 days of purchase. Buyer is responsible for all costs related to moving the house, including, but not limited to, utility disconnect costs, permits and any site work incidental to moving. Once work related to moving the house is started, moving must be completed expeditiously.
- Title to the house will pass upon receipt of payment to County; all liability and responsibility for the house also passes to buyer upon payment to County.
- Minimum bid: $15,000
- Means of payment: Cash, certified funds or check approved by the Brewster County Treasurer's Office; payment to be made by 2 p.m. on sale day.
- Brewster County reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to negotiate terms and conditions with the high, qualified bidder.

The Brewster County Courthouse offices will be closed Monday, July 5, 2010, in observance of Independence Day. The Courthouse will re-open for regular hours on Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
